Chelsea V/S Liverpool matches have not disappointed in the recent past and today’s game was no different. Liverpool ran out 2-0 victors. An Andreas Christensen red card after consulting VAR changed the whole complexion of the game.
It was very evenly contested with most of the first half being played in the midfield. Liverpool dominated proceedings in the beginning but as time went on, Chelsea came into the game. Both defences are maintaining high lines and with the pace of Havertz and Werner and Salah and Mane, the midfielders are looking for balls in behind the defence. Fabinho made a very important tackle, taking the ball off Timo Werner. Liverpool didn’t have a clear opportunity at goal in the first half. An end to end first half came to a close with a pivotal moment as Andreas Christensen was sent off after a Rugby tackle on Sadio Mane. A goal was bound to come now that it was 10 v 11. Chelsea had to rise to the challenge, if they had to get anything out of this game.

The second half began with Liverpool on the front foot as expected, Thiago was introduced by Liverpool while Tomori came in for Chelsea replacing Henderson and Havertz respectively. Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino played a lovely one two on the edge of the box, Firmino crossed it in and Mane headed home to give the Reds a lead. Chelsea’s goalkeeping woes continued as Mane intercepted Kepa’s pass before slotting it in. Jorginho got a penalty after Werner was brought down inside the box. Allison made a great save from the penalty diving to his lower left hand side.
In conclusion, Chelsea need Kepa to improve, or they have to buy another keeper in this window. Kepa had a fairly decent game but mistakes at this level can not really be forgiven. The red card turned the match on its head. Liverpool deservedly grabbed all three points. Fabinho had a brilliant game at Centre Back and this provides Jurgen Klopp with more options in defence. If we had to choose a Man of the Match, it would be Fabinho.
