With Chelsea rebuilding the team in full motion after bringing in the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell, it seems they are not done yet with the Blues eyeing to spend big bucks on the young German wizard Kai Havertz, who is the youngest at 21 to have 100 appearances under his belt, just ahead of his future Chelsea teammate, Timo Werner.
The transfer ban last term seems to have been the blessing in disguise for Chelsea as they look stronger than ever when others are battling in this economic crisis.
So let’s have a look at how the promising German fits in this promising Chelsea squad.
With Willian moving to Arsenal and Pedro going to Roma, the midfield has been left somewhat vacant and Havertz seems ideal for the attacking midfielder position given Ziyech occupies the right wing. With Jorginho also not being in the plans of Lampard, he will form a strong partnership with energetic Kante, Kovacic or the lively Mount. Up front, American star Pulisic, Werner and Ziyech will provide a formidable threat in this Chelsea attack. Barkley, Hudson Odoi, Giroud and Abraham may not get the first team exposure as they would have desired but they will be ideal substitutes and chip in with important contributions as and when required.
More than merely filling the boots of a midfielder, Havertz will provide the much needed creativity which the Chelsea midfield has lacked and prove to be a major asset anytime soon with all the new signings done this season around. Yes, he will be the costliest buy in Chelsea’s history but there’s no point being reluctant in buying him as he is one of the brightest prospect and it comes as a surprise that no other clubs are bidding for him and Chelsea are having a go in the park smoothly. Surely, the pandemic has crippled the ambition of many big clubs.
