Who is going to survive the drop?

The Premier League is nearing its finale and the fight to escape the Relegation zone has come down to the wire. Norwich City have already been relegated, while two other clubs will join the Championship next season. No team would want to drop down as it means a dip in both fame and finances for the club. There are three relegation threatened teams- Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Watford, and only one of them can escape. The situation is dire for Bournemouth. They need to win and hope that both Aston Villa and Watford lose. Then, they would survive via higher goal difference. That is the only way they can stay up. Anything other than a win for Bournemouth and they would see their hopes go up in smoke.  Both Aston Villa and Watford would want to win and hope that the other drops points. A win for any of the two, given the other drops points, would guarantee their survival in the top flight. The other team and Bournemouth would...

Europa League spots: From all angles

How do things stand in the race for the Europa league for Premier League Clubs. Manchester City's triumph in the Carabao cup means that the team finishing sixth in the league table would get a slot in the Europa league. If Man United defeats Leicester and Chelsea suffer a loss against Wolves, Leicester would qualify for Europa alongside Wolves. A win for Leicester, Chelsea and Tottenham means Man United will have to play Europa alongside Tottenham ruling out the likes of Wolves. A FA Cup triumph for Chelsea means both Wolves and  Spurs would qualify for the Europa league alongside either Chelsea, United or Leicester. A win for Arsenal against Chelsea in the FA Cup finals will secure them a place in the Europa for the next season. Another likely scenario is if Man United finishes fifth and wins Europa, and Chelsea finishes fourth and wins FA Cup, then the team holding the eight spot will get a slot for the Europa league. Currently Sheffield Uni...

Race For Europe

The Premier Leagu e has finally come to its business end, even after almost a 3 month lay off due to the Corona virus . The question is, who can hold their nerve, who can qualify for Europe's most coveted competition next season? Runaway winners Liverpool, ending their 30 year old wait for the Trophy, and Manchester City, have already secured the top 2 spots for the UEFA Champions League. It has all come down to a three-way dead lock between Manchester United, Chelsea and Leicester City , where each of them have a fair chance to get into Europe’s elite competition.           The next set of fixtures bring about mouthwatering clashes for the neutrals . It's do or die. With two places left to fill and three in contention for it and the fact that two of them (Man Utd and Leicester) go head to head, leaves the teams with their fate in their own hands.           As it stands, a d...
