Bayern Munich will face Lyon in the second semi-final of the UEFA Champions League 2019-20 in Lisbon on 20th August. Bayern Munich had completely annihilated Barcelona in the quarters and will be high on confidence, looking to conquer Europe for the first time since 2012/13. Lyon, are not to be underestimated though, as they defeated another favorite, Manchester City, in the quarter finals. This wasn’t just a flash in the pan as they showed that they are unperturbed by the tag of underdogs as they had offloaded Juventus in the previous round as well. However, Bayern Munich might just be a step too far for the French side.
PLAYERS MISSING

French defender Benjamin Pavard is out due to a ligament injury, which means that Joshua Kimmich will start at right back. New signing Leroy Sane will not be able to play until next season and hence isn’t available for selection.
LYON
It is good news from the Lyon camp that there are no injuries or suspensions. Their centre back Marcelo faces the threat of suspension though.

Thomas Mueller has been one of the best players for Bayern Munich this season. He netted a brace against Barcelona in the quarter final. Even when he’s not scoring, he is busy setting up goals for his teammates. His reading of space and scrupulous execution of the simplest of plays makes him perilous on the pitch.
ALPHONSO DAVIES

The Canadian has comfortably settled into the starting lineup and has been indispensable for Hansi Flick. He is a nightmare for defenders with his electrifying pace and precise crosses. He is solid defensively as well. That solo run and the drop of shoulder will surely still give Semedo nightmares. He will be focal if Bayern are to beat Lyon.
LYON
HOUSSEM AOUAR

The French youngster, in 7 Champions League appearances, has scored 1 goal and provided 5 assists. He is known for his creativity and nonchalance on the ball. Aouar's technical excellence has been extolled by several greats of the game. He shows a sense of authority with the ball at his feet and Lyon will depend on him to pave their way to the finals.
ANOTHONY LOPES

The 29 year old French shot-stopper is an integral part of the Lyon first team. He has made 22 saves in the 11 games he has taken part in. He is also good with the ball at his feet with a passing accuracy of 75%. He has to be on top form if he is to thwart Bayern's terrifying triumvirate of Lewandowski, Müller and Gnabry.
PREVIEW
Bayern are a team in devastating form. This team on paper, certainly are the favorites to advance to the final. Lyon will have to show sheer grit and gumption for ninety minutes or more if they want to stand any chance of upsetting the Bavarians. A blockbuster encounter is on the cards!
