Thiago to Liverpool: A Possibility or a Necessity

How can you improve a team which dominated the whole league last season? If we look at Liverpool’s team, there is a gaping hole in midfield. They are in dire need of a creative midfielder.

If you watch any of Liverpool’s matches you’ll make out that Liverpool have only one plan. With two energetic full backs running down the wings providing crossing. The wingers Salah and Mane move inwards with Firmino dropping deep. But, they do not have a plan B. If a team plays a low block then they can give Liverpool a hard time.

They have Naby Keita as a creative midfielder and although he has performed well at the end of the season his form isn’t anywhere near what he showed at Leipzig. Liverpool don’t have a back-up in this position. The biggest problem is that he gets injured far too often.

Here, we can suggest an alternative in Thiago Alcantara of Bayern Munich. For £30 million he would be a steal. The best thing is that he would be an upgrade on Naby Keita and he doesn’t get injured as often. He is a technically brilliant player and no one in the current Liverpool team can match those abilities. He would be the plan B and the piece Jurgen Klopp needs to complete his jigsaw.

We have seen, whenever Neco Williams plays instead of Trent or Milner in place of Robertson or when their first choice front three is replaced, in either case, Liverpool lose their potency going forward. With midfielders such as Henderson and Fabinho, who are great for the system but not creative enough, the services of Thiago would be needed to unlock defences in tight matches.

We feel that Thiago for Liverpool, more than a possibility should be a necessity.

History of the FA Community Shield

Now that there are now not many games round the corner, we decided to take a glimpse at the history of the Community Shield. The Community Shield is played between the winners of the Premier League and the winners of the FA cup of the previous season and marks the first trophy of the long season that is to be played ahead. Well if both are triumphed by a single club, the runner up in the Premier League happens to be the opposition. It is more charity oriented rather than just business as the game proceeds are distributed to the charities and community initiatives. The history goes back to 1898 when it was first played between the professionals and the amateurs. The first official match was played between Manchester United and the Queens Park Rangers where it was known as the Sheriff of London Charity Shield. While you may wonder that rules must remain the same, yeah they are except for a few exceptions like the teams are allowed a maximum of 6 substitutions ...

Manchester United: Average journey continues

Another new season, another new year where the fallen giants try to revive the good old days of glory. After a dismal 1-3 defeat to Crystal Palace on the opening day of the Premier League campaign, and a largely underwhelming performance against Brighton, where the Red Devils just narrowly scraped through to clinch the win with a 90+10th minute Bruno Fernandes penalty. But why is this happening? Year after year, Man Utd just doesn't seem to rejuvenate. Here is our opinion of what is lacking in this Manchester United squad and how we feel some changes need to be made earnestly and tactfully. 1. SHAKY DEFENSE Man Utd just can't find the right back line to support the attackers. Yes, last year they conceded 18 fewer goals in the league than the season before, but the defense is far from solid. Maguire was made captain, but he's no leader. Errors, confusion, and no inspiration. Maguire centre back partners Lindelof and Bailey are poorly inconsistent, sometimes even n...

Manchester United VS Chelsea : Preview

Manchester United welcome Chelsea to the Theatre of Dreams. This fixture brings back memories of Frank Lampard’s first match as Chelsea manager when Ole’s reds smashed the blues 4-0. A lot has happened since for both teams but the circumstances leading up to the game are somewhat similar. Manchester United are inconsistent as they had been. Similarly, Chelsea are a team which is trying to find their feet and sort themselves out. Manchester United, in their midweek Champions League clash against Paris Saint Germain, won via a late Marcus Rashford goal(yes, again!). Manchester United have been wildly inconsistent in the Premier League so far, and have not won two games in a row. They destroyed Newcastle 4-1 at St. James’s Park in their last match but in their previous fixture, Tottenham decimated them 6-1 at home. Their defence, which has been suspect even after expensive reinforcements, somehow conceded only one goal at the hands of Mbappe, Neymar and Di Maria, which ...
