Luis Suarez leaves FC Barcelona

Being the third top scorer of one of the greatest club, Suarez was part of one of the most dominant periods of Barcelona’s history. The MSN trio were ruthless and hardly was there a day when they didn’t find the back of the net. Apart from being a lethal goalscorer, his partnership with Messi on and off the field with Messi deserves a special mention. Be it chipping in with assists or just having fun with their families, Messi and Suarez were often spotted together and needless to say after Neymar left, Suarez was his closest pal.

To win the golden shoe in the league where Messi and Ronaldo are competing not once but twice just shows why he was indispensable to the Barcelona team. He even won the Pichichi trophy in 2016 besides the golden shoe in the same year and 2014. Long rangers, headers, bicycle kicks, Suarez did it all and in some style. It remains to be seen how Barca will replace such a lethal goalscorer in the near future.

At 33, he may not be as lethal as he was in his prime but there’s no denying the fact that he can perform at the top level. He scored 16 times in the league last term including the outrageous back heel against Mallorca. It will be interesting how Atletico use their Uruguayan forward and time will only tell if Barca are to repent their decision of selling their star striker for a lowly 6m euros.

Manchester United VS Chelsea : Preview

Manchester United welcome Chelsea to the Theatre of Dreams. This fixture brings back memories of Frank Lampard’s first match as Chelsea manager when Ole’s reds smashed the blues 4-0. A lot has happened since for both teams but the circumstances leading up to the game are somewhat similar. Manchester United are inconsistent as they had been. Similarly, Chelsea are a team which is trying to find their feet and sort themselves out.  Manchester United, in their midweek Champions League clash against Paris Saint Germain, won via a late Marcus Rashford goal(yes, again!). Manchester United have been wildly inconsistent in the Premier League so far, and have not won two games in a row. They destroyed Newcastle 4-1 at St. James’s Park in their last match but in their previous fixture, Tottenham decimated them 6-1 at home. Their defence, which has been suspect even after expensive reinforcements, somehow conceded only one goal at the hands of Mbappe, Neymar and Di Maria, which ...

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL : PREVIEW

Bayern Munich and PSG meet in Europe's most prestigious competition final in Lisbon on Sunday. Both teams having won all domestic crowns on offer, are gunning to flaunt an illustrious treble for the season. With both squads bragging such destructive attacking talent, the game might be decided by the team who defends better. A first Champions League final for PSG, who seem to finally reap the dividends of spending millions, against an accomplished Bayern side, looking for their 6th Champions League, the stage is set for a jaw dropping game. PLAYERS TO MISS OUT PSG Laywin Kurzawa is still out due to a thigh injury. First choice keeper Keylor Navas is also doubtful after straining his hamstring in the quarter final against Atalanta. Idrissa Gueye is out with a thigh injury as well, Marco Verrati looks most likely to replace him. BAYERN MUNICH Bayern have a full strength squad barring a thigh injury to veteran Jerome Boateng who may miss the summit clash.    ...

Barcelona V/S Napoli : Preview

With the dishonour of going trophyless for the first time since 2007-08 looming large, winning the UCL after 5 years will easily rub off the pain of not winning the La liga and their below par performances during the later stages of the competition, over the years. Having said that, the task on hand is no piece of cake as they face a stubborn Napoli side, inspired by Gennaro Gattuso who can outrival any side on their day. Their strike force is deadly to say the least. Insigne, Mertens, Lozano, Milik, Callejon, Politano can wreck havoc across defences, more so when Barca has a very poor record defensively of late. Napoli  had the most possession(59%) and the most passes in the Serie A, were the Coppa Italia champions and they were the unbeaten team in their group despite being on the same pool with defending champions, Liverpool.  Players missing out- FC Barcelona Missing out influential midfielder, Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal through suspension will be a cause of headach...
