Everton VS Liverpool, Merseyside Derby : Preview

It’s time for the Merseyside Derby and never before, atleast in the recent past, has this match been so highly anticipated as a top of the table clash. The last time Everton got one over their neighbours was in 2010. Liverpool are unbeaten against Everton in their last 22 meetings. At Goodison Park, 7 of their last 8 meetings have ended in draws. But, times have changed. Liverpool have just won the Premier League and at the start of the new season, Everton occupy pole position in the League table. Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Alission is currently injured, and that is bad news for the reds. Adrian deputized well in the Super Cup last season, but after that, he has been abysmal. In the recent 7-2 drubbing at the hands of Aston Villa(Yes 7-2!!!) Adrian made such mistakes, which a Premier League keeper shouldn’t. Then, there is Joe Gomez, who was exposed in the same match. With Matip fit and Fabinho’s performance against Chelsea, we can see Gomez getting replaced by either of them. Jordan Hend...

Transfer Window Eleven

EMI MARTINEZ Brilliantly deputised for the injured Bernd Leno at Arsenal for the latter half of last season. Commanding displays in the FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs earned him interest from a number of premier league clubs. Already saving a penalty which proved to be decisive in Aston Villa's 1-0 win over Sheffield, the €20m deal seems amazing in today's market.  RUBEN DIAS Laporte's CB partner to be, the 6'2" tall defender has been decent with the portugal national team and played over 100 games for Benfica. Regarded as a ball playing centre back, Man City did some good business bringing in both Ake and Dias in the same window to solve their back line woes. ACHRAF HAKIMI The pack wing back who can play on both sides lit up the flanks at dortmund and it was rather surprising why Madrid didn't try to hold on to him as he definitely looks promising to become one of the best full backs in the future. Technically adept, can play accurate passes ...

Manchester United v/s. Spurs: Preview

Jose Mourinho against a former club is never an uninteresting contest. Both teams having tasted bitter opening day defeats have slickly picked up the momentum, remaining unbeaten in all competitions since then.  Tottenham have some injury concerns with Heung Min Son (hamstring) and Giovanni Lo Celso, the latter being substituted at half time after taking a knock in their Europa League play off against Maccabi. Star signing Gareth Bale is still recovering from a knee injury. Spurs, however still do possess enough firepower in their ranks with Kane, Lamela, Lucas and Bergwin all having good starts to their seasons. They go into the tie on the back of crushing victories over Southampton (5-2) and Maccabi Haifa (7-2) which just shows how freely they can score on their day. Defensive issues still need to be solved, but it's needless to say that Tottenham will heavily rely on their front men, especially Kane who scored a hattrick in midweek, to carry them over the line at Old Traf...

Leeds United VS Manchester City: Preview

On paper, it looks like a match between the sides wherein one team was the Champions for two times in the last three years and a newly promoted side plying their trade in the Premier League after 16 long years but football fans all around the globe know it is much more than that. Leeds have already announced their arrival in the Premier League against the Champions where they narrowly missed out on what would have been a famous draw at Anfield, all thanks to a casual last gasp foul by new signing, Rodrigo on Fabinho which was coolly converted by Salah with the match finishing 4-3 in favour of Liverpool. The next match against Fulham saw a similar scoreline but fortunately Leeds were on the winning end this time around. Patrick Bamford grabbed headlines by scoring a 88th minute winner in the Yorkshire derby. Their style of attacking football has caught the eye of many and Marcelo Bielsa is no doubt the architect of it, After just missing out on Premier League last time around, Leeds wer...

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW 2020-21

The UEFA Champions League draw was conducted on 1st October, and some mouthwatering fixtures lie ahead of us. Let us have a look at the groups. GROUP A Group A pits FC Bayern Munich against Atletico de Madrid. Will we see a defensive masterclass from Simeone or will Flick’s Bayern run away with it? It would be a great match. The presence of Luis Suarez adds a bit of the revenge element to the game. Salzburg and Locomotiv are not expected to qualify for the knockouts but they will fight it out for the Europa League spot. But in football, surprises ain’t far away. GROUP B Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan and Borussia Monchengladbach make up group B. This is a very exciting group. Achraf Hakimi will face his former side. The fight for 2nd place should go down to the sixth matchday with the pedigree of teams in here. GROUP C Porto, Manchester City, Olympiacos and Marseille are in Group C. Manchester City should win this group. The fight for second and third(Europa League place) w...
